What they built

StoryShort is an AI video generator for faceless TikTok and YouTube Shorts. You give it a topic and it produces the script, voiceover and visuals, then can post the videos automatically. Samuel Rondot, a French founder who used to work as an optician, did not invent the format. He saw a tool that automated faceless video posting, decided it was working, and built his own version aimed at creators who want to run short-form channels without ever showing their face.

How they did it

Samuel's whole playbook is one rule: don't reinvent the wheel, just make it 1% better. He finds something already making money, ships a close variant with one meaningful improvement, launches with paid ads, and grows from there. He runs StoryShort alongside two other products, useArtemis and Capacity, and he taught himself to code to do it. Copying what already sells, then out-executing on the details, is an underrated route for solo builders who don't want to gamble on unproven ideas.

The numbers

StoryShort earns around $20,000 a month from roughly 4,000 customers, and across his portfolio (StoryShort, useArtemis and Capacity) Samuel reports about $28K MRR combined, all built after he learned to code from scratch (source). He posts the ups and downs openly, including the months revenue dips instead of scaling. These are founder-reported figures, so treat them as claimed.

What to take from it: originality is optional. If a product is already making money in a crowded space, there is room for a version that is a little faster, a little cheaper or a little better targeted. Samuel treats that as a repeatable process, not a one-time bet, which is how one person ends up running three products.
